Background
I have been actively involved in research since 2016. My lab experience sparked a love for research, and I decided to attempt a PhD in Neuroscience. In my PhD, I studied the effects of alcohol use on risk for dementia development in pre-clinical models. My studies focused heavily on the underlying pathology and how alcohol use may worsen pathology in key regions that regulate many non-cognitive symptoms associated with dementia. After successfully defending, I followed my love for histology and pathology to the INRL. I get to use the skills I mastered during PhD every day, and help other researchers plan and carry out their experiments. One new aspect of my position is brain banking. I am fortunate enough to be trusted with donated brain tissue that is prepared and stored for research use. Outside of lab, I enjoy reading, weightlifting, and spending time with my birds and rabbits.
